TOA BJJ Coach (Blue Belt)

From different trades to DJ’ing and working in various aspects of the music industry for a long time, I knew at some stage I would need some sort of fitness regime in my life, I had never really been a gym-goer or a runner and with a short attention span I found it extremely difficult to work-out from home. With 3 children and an extremely busy lifestyle, team sports were just too hard to commit too, I wanted something I could just turn up and learn a certain skill, like a martial art. I have always been a fan of the UFC since the late 90s and noticed there was one discipline in particular that was really dominating the sport, and that was Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I went to a beginner’s class at Oliver MMA in West Auckland, and I was hooked after my first session! It checked all my boxes, continuously learning amazing skills on and off the mats and has transposed into so many different aspects of my life, all extremely positive not to mention the workout you get from training BJJ is like none other. I will forever be a student of jiu-jitsu and am extremely honoured to be a part of the T.M.A team and look forward to seeing the hugely positive impact I know it will have on our community.
